Company Profile Fields


This page provides help on entering information into your Company Profile. Please remember this information is not provided under any non-disclosure agreement, so do not include any information that might invalidate a patent application.

Company Name
This is a required field. If you have not yet formed a company, use an appropriate name to describe your project or idea. 

Logo
To associate a logo with your profile you need to upload it to MyDealMaker. User the Browse button to locate the file containing the logo in one of the supported formats. Then use the Load button to upload the logo file. The logo should now be displayed in your profile.

Company Number
Only fill this in if you have incorporated a company.

Region
Select the part of the region in which you are based. If you currently located outside the region, select the appropriate designation for the current location of your company.

Email Address
This is the email address that will be displayed - normally this would be the general contact email for the company. 

Web Site
The web site to go for more information about the company. 

Number of Employees
Based on full time equivalents.

Year Founded
The year the company was incorporated.

Year Profitable
The year the company is expected to make profits. If you are currently profitable, select that option. If you select 'Specify Date' a new field is displayed that allows you to specify the date your project to be profitable, entered in dd/mm/yyyy format.

Month Year End
From the drop down menu select the month of your year end (often asked in relation to financials you provide which may only talk about 'Financial Year').

Growth Stage
Select the stage which best describes your company:

Proof-of-Concept- the business concept is being developed prior to bringing to market.

Early Stage - May have been trading for a short time, but not have sold their product in volume.

Development  - To grow and expand an established company. For example, to scale up production, further product develop the initial product, or to expand marketing.

Established - The company has been trading profitably for a number of years, but may be looking for additional working capital or growth funding.

Technology Sector
Select the sector that best describes your technology or the markets you serve. If you select more than one sector, you will appear in more than one part of the directory when users browse by Technology Sector.

ICB Classification
Select the '+' to expand the part of the ICB Classification hierarchy you want your profile to occur under when users browse the MyDealMaker directory. If you select more than one classification, you will appear in more than one part of the directory when users browse by ICB Classification.

Company Profile
This is the only field on the executive summary page that is displayed to other registered entrepreneurs. Use this field to include information that generally describes your company, what it does, etc.

History & Current Position
Provide some background to the company, its origins and the current status.

Products & Services
Describe the product/services you offer. If they are on sale now, make that clear

Science & Technology
Describe the technology or science that underpins your products, any patents you have applied for or have been granted.

Market
Things you might consider:

  • Market size – and how you’ve verified it.
  • Market’s characteristics, e.g. established or emerging, fragmented or small number of large customers, UK and (realistically) international.
  • Prospects for market growth.
  • Who are your competitors.
  • Your approximate market share now, and your target market share - explain why this target is credible.
  • Explain routes to market, channels and distribution & process. Length of sales cycle.

Competitive Advantage
How are you going to succeed against the competition?

Strategic Alliances
Early adopters, channel partners, distributors, VARs, etc.

Financials
Highlights/trends concerning past, current and projected (three years) performance.

Management
Describe key management and their relevant experience (relative to the sector, the role and the task ahead)
Detail the commitment of key management (particularly financial, including personal guarantees if any)
Highlight the presence of necessary skills (including non-exec directors, if any)

Documents
Select the Documents tab to add a document to your profile then follow the instructions on the page. You can upload as many documents and you wish to support you profile. Note that your business plan is best associated with your funding requirement.

Funding Sought
Enter the amount of funding you are seeking. Although you may have a range in mind and alternative scenarios for going forwards it is best to state a specific amount that you are seeking to raise.

Stage Of Investment
Select the stage that you are at with regard to investment.

Funding Purpose
Provide a description of what you need the funding for. A breakdown of where the money you raise will be spent is often a good idea. We do not encourage you to indicate the percentage of equity you are prepared to sell as this is something for negotiation once an investor has expressed an interest.

Business Plan
You can attach a business plan to your funding requirement that you are prepared to share with potential investors. Note that this will not be under non-disclosure and therefore any information you include should potentially be viewed as a disclosure from a patent perspective.

Revenue Status
When you expect to have competed any trials and will start selling your product or service.

Product Status
if you are developing an innovative new product, indicate the stage you are at in the process of technical innovation.

Customer Status
The stage you are at with regard to introducing your product or service to the market from the perspective of  customers using your product or service.

Exit Plan
Investors may wish to see a return from their investment and their likely means of exit.

Create As Anonymous
This option allows you to create an anonymous Resource Requirement. This means anyone browsing your profile will not see this Resource Requirement associated with your profile. This allows you to advertise a Resource Requirment without disclosing explicitly who you are. This means the only way of an investor expressing an interest is via MyDealMaker Messaging (or any means explicitly indicated in the advert).
