MYDEALMAKER

What is MyDealMaker?
MyDealMaker is an online portal that helps marry young, ambitious companies with the resources they need to succeed. Our sweet spot is raising equity finance and helping companies become 'investment ready'. We also help link companies to sources of mentoring advice, skills and expertise that can help - every step of the way.

Who's behind MyDealMaker?

Who should join?
Any company that has a gap in their funding, needs to bolster their management team, or is in the market for professional support and advice can benefit from exposure on MyDealMaker! Similarly service providers, domain experts and intermediaries can raise their profile by joining the community. For more information, click here.

How can I get help?
The Help page is a good place to start! If you want to ask a question, you can use the enquiry form or send us an email. On each page there is an help button  in the top right corner that provides context-sensitive help. Similarly, a help button  beside a form field gives help or advice on filling it in.

Why equity funding?
If you have developed a new product or service and in the process have created intellectual property then equity funding involves selling shares in your company to an investor who shares in the risks and rewards. This is a key aspect of MyDealMaker.

REGISTRATION

Should I register as an Entrepreneur or Investor?
MyDealMaker is targeted at people potentially looking for equity funding now or in the future, so its primary audience is people with ideas (Entrepreneurs) and people with money (Investors). If you are an intermediary working on behalf of a company seeking to raise money, register as an Entrepreneur.

Can anyone register as on Investor?
No! You need either to be FSA registered or certify that you are a high net worth individual as defined under the Financial Services Act.

What if I am not an Entrepreneur or an Investor?
We plan to extend MyDealMaker to cater for other stakeholders that might help nurture young, ambitious companies in a future release. Please sign up for our the latest news and feel free to contact us if you have ideas about what capabilities would be of interest using the enquiry form or email us your comments.

MEMBERS

How do I find other Members?

You can search for Member profiles here. You can save searches and bookmark items of interest and manage them using the Favourites menu. You can even check who has favourited you! And if you are happy to share your interest with others you can make your favourites public.

How do I contact Members of MyDealMaker?
Each member profile has contact details and you can also send an email message even if the user has chosen to remain anonymous - then the recipient can respond to you directly.

Can I choose to remain anonymous?
Yes! You can declare as much information about yourself as you want. If you register as an Investor, we need certain information to confirm that you are FSA registered or a high-net worth individual. Similarly, you can choose to make you resource need or offer anonymous. If you choose to remain anonymous, you can still interact with other members through the MyDealMaker messaging facility.

PROFILES

How do I create a my Profile?
It's easy. You can begin by registering on the site. You can fill out a brief version of your profile using the My Companies menu if you are an entrepreneur (or the My Profile menu if you are an investor) and then add more details later. Once we have approved your changes, other MyDealMaker Members will then be able to view your profile and contact you. Associated with a company profile, you can indicate resource requirements, such as finance, skills or advice. Similarly, Investors can advertise the funding they have to offer.

Do I have to create a Profile?
You are not required to, but if you don't other members are unlikely to find you! If you just want to search other profiles on MyDealMaker you don't need your own profile, you just need to be a registered user.

How complete does my Profile have to be?
That is up to you. You can always create a basic profile and add more information later on. We provide a set of fields to provide consistency and structure to your profile based on our experience of the kind of information is usually needed to elicit a favourable response. Entrepreneurs can use the 'View As Entrepreneur' and 'View As Investor' buttons to review how other users will see your profile.

Can I create more than one Profile?
Entrepreneurs (or intermediaries acting for them) can create more than one Company Profile. However, Investors can only have one Profile.

RESOURCES

What is the difference between a Profile and a Resource?
A Company Profile is a basic overview an organisation (Company or Investor) and the individuals involved, with an indication of their role. A Resource is a specific need or capability that a Member has. MyDealMaker currently supports Financial Resources (Funds), but our intention is to extend this to support other kinds of resource a young, ambitious company might need, such as advice and expertise.

Do I have to create a Resource Requirement or Offer?
No! But by advertising your requirement or the capability you offer, you are more likely to generate interest from potential matches.

Can I create more than one Resource Requirement or Offer?
Entrepreneurs (or intermediaries acting for them) can create more than one Resource Requirement. However, Investors can create only one Funding Offer.

Can everyone see my Resource Requirements?
No! Your Resource Requirements are only visible to members that could satisfy them. So if you indicate a Funding Requirement, only registered investors will be able to see it. Similarly, other resource requirements are only visible to potential providers. There is a facility to make your Funding Requirement or Offer anonymous, so you can disclose further information about your proposition to selected parties.

If you have a query but cannot find the answer here, fill in the enquiry form or email us your questions or comments.
